8th International Exhibition
SAFARI EXPO. SPRING-2010

The 8th International exhibition Safari Expo. Spring 2010, one of the most important events which are very popular among hunters and fishermen was held February 18-21, 2010 in the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre.

The exhibition was held with official support by the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, RosOkhotRybolovSoyuz Association and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation.

The exhibition Safari Expo is one of the most attended and authoritative events of the profile in Russia which stably develops, improves and attracts more and more visitors with each new edition.

The spring edition of the trade fair has gathered 320 exhibitors from 11 countries (Belarus, Bulgaria, Hungary, Canada, Latvia, New Zealand, Norway, the USA, Ukraine and the Republic of South Africa) and 25 regions of the Russian Federation (Arkhangelsk, the Astrakhan region, Barnaul, the Volgograd region, the Voronezh region, Kazan, the Kamchatka area, Krasnodar territory, Krasnoyarsk region, Moscow, Moscow Region, Nizhni Novgorod, Novosibirsk, the Magadan area, St.-Petersburg, Saratov, the Tver region, the Udmurt Republic, Khabarovsk territory and Yakutia).

Floor area of the trade fair comprised 15 000 sq m and more than 40 000 visitors came to the exhibition!

The organizers of the exposition Safari Expo. Spring 2010 aimed to demonstrate the latest achievements and technologies in various areas of mutual relations between men and the nature; represent the latest developments of Russian and foreign companies related to hunting and fishing outfit, special purpose equipment and goods, technical means and vehicles used for the organization of hunting, fishing, outdoor activity and tourism.

Exposition Safari Expo. Spring 2010 was presented by 5 basic thematic sections:
1) HUNTING
The section featured a wide range of weapons, cartridges, weapon accessories, hunting and sport equipment, technical devices and optics, tents, special footwear and clothing, hunting outfit and many other goods. Fans of sports shooting will have an opportunity to try their accuracy on shooting laser training apparatus. Interest of visitors of the exhibition will be attracted also by the section of hunting trophies and taxidermy.
2) FISHING
There were a lot to look at both for fishers and hunters: a wide range of fishing tackles, floating means, spinning, fishing rods, coils, fishing-lines, hooks for all tastes and wallets. The most inveterate fishermen can try skills of various ways of fishing and familiarize with novelties of fishing tackles at pool directly on the show site.
3) TECHNICAL MEANS
A separate exposition featured devices and equipment for outdoor activity and tourism: all-road and cross-country vehicles, boats and speed-boats, hovercrafts, tow vehicles, engines and related products.
4) HOLIDAYS AND TOURISM
Travel agencies offering hunting and fishing tours in Russia and abroad, fishing and hunting entities, outdoor activity establishments (mountain skiing, biking and horse tourism), goods for sports, goods for outdoor picnics, tourism and underwater hunting were presented in the sector.
5) HEALTH OF NATION
The visitors saw heating devices and other special purpose facilities for hunters and fishers, folk medicine remedies, balm, liqueur (nastoyka) and honey.

The Press Conference for journalists was held February 18, 2010 on the first working day of the exhibition Safari Expo. Spring 2010. The most well known and prominent persons participated in the press conference:

• Eduard Bendersky, President of the Association RosOkhotRybolovSoyuz;
• Stanislav Radzishevsky, Chairman of the Association Council Presidium on fishing sport;
• Andrey Denisov, Vice-president of RusFishing All-Russian Fishing Club;
• Arkady Zlotnikov, First Deputy Director Crocus Expo IEC;
• Valery Zubko, Director of the exhibition Safari Expo;
• Irina Krivtsova, Deputy Director Crocus Expo IEC and Coordinator of the exhibition Safari Expo.

The winners in significant branch contests were granted prizes within the frames of the press conference. New heroes of fishing sports were: Pavel Romanov (I place in relay race on amateur fishing) and Andrey Kashtanov, senior coach of the Russian national team on float fishing (I place at the contest on float). Igor Potapov, world champion on float fishing, and Andrey Petertsov, Artem Davydov and Serguei Zhdanov, the best spinning fishermen, received well-deserved rewards. Pavel Romanov became also the winner of the All-Russian fishing contest which had started October 2 on Nizhnaya Volga.

A number of specialized mass media editions were mentioned within the frames of the press conference. Safari, Okhotnik, Rybolov and Rybolov Elite magazines, Rybak Rybaka newspaper and Gaming. Fishing TV channel were granted prizes in the nomination The Best Coverage of Gaming and Fishing Events.

A new section Salon PhotoTrophies was held within the frames of the spring edition of the show. The salon aimed to provide an opportunity to professional photographers-naturalists and all fans of photography for presentation of nature diversity, beauty of its flora and animal life, necessity of taking good care of nature and to be sparing with it, involving even more people into the process of bloodless hunting.

Presentation of the first edition of the Russian Hunting Trophies Records Book was held at the Official Opening Ceremony of the show within the frames of the project For the First Time in Russia – Enter Your Name into the Hunting Chronicle of Russia!

A number of master classes and press conferences on the most actual issues were held at the show. Round table Purchase, storage and turnover of hunting guns caused genuine boom among hunting and gaming fans.

All willing had an opportunity to receive experts’ consultancy on various issues: gaming and fishing tourism; gaming and gaming trophies; gaming legislation; cynological issues on hunting dogs groups: a puppy selection, bringing up, keeping and care, training and etc; contests program 2010, sportsmen equipment, consultancy by the leading sportsmen of Moscow.

Open exhibition championship on knife throwing, all-road vehicles performance, radio controlled helicopter and aircraft models, strikeball and laser shooting range were of high interest among the visitors.

The First round of the Cup of Russia on mountainbiking (trial) was for the first time held within the frames of the exposition. The event produced an unforgettable impression by sportsmen breathtaking performance.

The exhibition Safari Expo in Crocus Expo has proved again that it is not only a remarkable way of spending leisure time and a place to acquire various novelties for a gaming and fishing season, but also a complex business event for professionals of the branch which provides a chance to establish new contacts.
